After holding the position for the past 6 years, Simone Venturi has handed over the baton and a new era starts at Barga Jazz Club – Luigi Guzzoletti is the new President of the Barga Jazz Club
As you can hear in the interview (in Italiano) recorded this afternoon Simone looks forward to some new directions whilst keeping the core reasons behind the club, now in it’s 12 year of existence, firmly in view.
Si conclude così, dopo 6 anni, la mia avventura da Presidente del Barga Jazz Club.
Lascio la carica nelle mani capaci di Luigi Guzzoletti, persona seria ed affidabile che da ieri sera è il nuovo Presidente dell’associazione.
Ringrazio tutti coloro che hanno condiviso questi 6 anni con me.
Spero di aver fatto qualcosa di importante per la cultura a Barga.
Ma non abbandono il BJC, troppo importante per me, quindi ci vediamo li ogni venerdì sera sempre più numerosi.

Last year we published an article here with Simone which included a recording of a conversation which ranged right across his musical career over the last 10 to 15 years. Simone although classically trained had over those years moved across many musical different fields including jazz, rock, pop, R&B and of course after his seven year stint with the most successful soul group in Tuscany – Mr Pitiful, he had also been heavily immersed in soul music with his new project, Meez Pheet – the original Nu Soul/R&B Band.
The new CD for Meez Pheet was on of the first crowd sourced projects attempted in this area – crowd sourcing appeal was successful, they went on to record their new CD and during August 2014 they celebrated the release of that disc with a party and concert at Villa Libano ( article here)
